What is your background and what qualifications do you hold?
With a BSc (Hons) degree in Biomedical Science, I embarked on a career in the industry, where I garnered valuable experience in multiple facets of medical device companies. Throughout my journey, I had the privilege of contributing my expertise to diverse departments, encompassing formulation, Quality Control (QC), and Quality Assurance (QA).
Starting in the formulation department, I played a pivotal role in developing and refining cutting-edge medical devices. Through my contributions, I gained an in-depth understanding of the intricacies involved in crafting innovative products that meet stringent industry standards.
I then transitioned to the Quality Control department, where I meticulously ensured the adherence of products to rigorous quality benchmarks. My keen eye for detail and analytical skills allowed me to conduct thorough inspections, implement robust testing protocols, and guarantee the production of superior medical devices.
Recognising the significance of maintaining the highest levels of quality, I later ventured into the realm of Quality Assurance. In this role, I took charge of establishing and maintaining quality management systems that complied with regulatory requirements. My strong grasp of industry regulations and standards, coupled with my meticulous approach, enabled me to streamline processes, implement effective corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.
My diverse experience across multiple departments within medical device companies has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the entire product lifecycle, from formulation to quality control and assurance. This holistic perspective has not only honed my technical skills but also fostered a deep appreciation for the critical interplay between different facets of the industry.
What do you do at Yordas?
As the team leader of Yordas' Global Hazard Communication team, I take pride in overseeing a diverse group of talented individuals spread across the UK, EU, North America, and Asia. In this pivotal role, my primary focus is to ensure that Yordas remains at the forefront of compliance in the complex field of global hazard communication.
Drawing upon my extensive expertise and knowledge in this domain, I possess a deep understanding of critical aspects such as (e)SDS, GHS, and Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP). My background in the biosciences further strengthens my grasp of these regulations, providing me with a solid foundation in the nuances of labelling and hazard communication obligations, including the EUs BPR.
A notable strength of mine lies in delivering exceptional training programs. With my experience as a seasoned trainer and course developer, I have successfully designed and conducted comprehensive sessions on a wide range of topics. I take pride in my expertise in areas such as GHS/CLP, Safety Data Sheets, and Poison Centre notifications. Through effective training, I ensure that my team members and clients are well-informed and up-to-date with the latest regulations and best practices.
I bring to the table exceptional leadership skills, backed by my extensive experience and profound knowledge of global hazard communication regulations. I am committed to empowering Yordas to navigate the complex landscape of compliance while consistently delivering high-quality services to our valued clients worldwide.
How does your current role connect with your background?
As the team leader of Yordas' Global Hazard Communication team, my background in Biomedical Science has proven to be invaluable in navigating the intricate world of hazard communication and compliance. The knowledge and skills acquired during my studies and early career in the biosciences have provided me with a strong foundation for understanding and implementing hazard communication regulations effectively.
Having a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science has equipped me with a deep understanding of scientific principles and laboratory practices. This background enables me to comprehend the technical aspects of hazard communication, including the formulation of products, quality control measures, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. I am able to draw upon this knowledge to guide my team in developing compliant hazard communication strategies.
Moreover, my experience working in various departments within medical device companies, such as formulation, quality control (QC), and quality assurance (QA), has provided me with practical insights into the industry's challenges and requirements. This hands-on experience allows me to relate to the day-to-day operations of the team members I lead, enabling me to provide guidance, support, and relevant expertise.

What have you learned at Yordas?
During my time at Yordas, I have gained in-depth knowledge of global hazard communication regulations, developed expertise in compliance management, honed my training and development skills, learned the value of cross-functional collaboration, gained industry insights, and embraced adaptability and agility in a dynamic environment.
How did you get started with Yordas?
I began my journey with Yordas by joining the company from industry working in a medial device company. Recognising the value of my educational background and my passion for hazard communication and compliance, Yordas offered me the opportunity to contribute to their Global Hazard Communication team. I enthusiastically accepted the role and quickly integrated into the team, leveraging my knowledge and skills to make valuable contributions from the start. With the support and guidance of my colleagues, I embarked on a fulfilling career at Yordas, continuously learning and growing in my role as a team leader in global hazard communication.
Who/what inspired you to pursue a career in science?
I was inspired to pursue a career in science as a woman in STEM due to my natural curiosity about the world and the encouragement and support I received from my family, teachers, mentors, and peers. This combination of personal curiosity and a strong support system fueled my passion for scientific exploration and motivated me to make a meaningful impact in the field.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I have a diverse range of hobbies and interests that bring me joy and relaxation. One of my passions is caring for indoor plants. I love tending to a variety of greenery, watching them thrive and beautify my living space. It's incredibly fulfilling to witness their growth and create a soothing atmosphere in my home.
In addition, I thoroughly enjoy watching movies. Whether it's exploring new releases or revisiting timeless classics, immersing myself in captivating stories and cinematic experiences is a fantastic way to unwind and transport myself to different worlds.
Family time is also a significant part of my life. Spending quality moments with my loved ones, engaging in conversations, and creating lasting memories brings me immense happiness. It's important to cherish these connections and nurture the bonds that enrich our lives.
Recently, I welcomed a delightful dachshund puppy named Biscoff into my life. Taking care of this adorable companion has become a cherished hobby. Whether it's playing together, going for walks, or simply cuddling, the joy and companionship that Biscoff brings into my life is truly heartwarming.
These hobbies and interests serve as a balance to my work life, allowing me to recharge, find inspiration, and connect with the things that bring me happiness and fulfilment.
What do you enjoy most with training?
I find immense fulfilment in assisting individuals in their learning journey and witnessing their personal growth. One of the most gratifying aspects of training clients, whether in face-to-face or virtual settings, is hearing participants express their newfound understanding by saying, "Now I get it." It brings me great joy to know that I have made a positive impact on their knowledge and empowered them to grasp complex concepts. This affirmation motivates me to continue providing exceptional training experiences and fostering an environment of continuous learning and development.
